The Fastest Hosting Providers of 2025

Introduction

Are you starting your own business and do you need a new website or is your website too slow? Apart from the fact that the technology and size of your website are important, another aspect plays a very important role: web hosting. Every hosting provider does its best to provide a fast service, but which one is the fastest? We have tested most of them in 2025 and are happy to share the results with you.

This is how the speed test was performed

In order to make a fair and reliable assessment of the performance of different hosting providers, we have made a selection of 12 hosting providers and subjected them to an extensive speed test. This test was performed completely anonymously, so hosting providers never knew that we were doing this test. In this way, a hosting provider cannot turn knobs to come out better in the test. Fair enough.

Equal conditions for a fair comparison

In order to keep the test results as similar as possible, we have chosen a comparable hosting package with each hosting provider. This means that, where possible, we have looked at hosting packages with the same or similar specifications. In addition, a maximum monthly price of €15 has been set, excluding temporary discount promotions. We have done our utmost to test all providers under the most similar conditions possible, but a 100% identical comparison is never fully feasible in practice. Nevertheless, we have kept as many factors the same as possible in order to perform a fair and representative speed test.

What kind of website was tested?

For this speed test, we chose a website built in WordPress, the most widely used content management system (CMS) in the world. To create a realistic test environment, we built the website with:

  • WP Astra as a theme, including a default template
  • Commonly used plugins deployed on most WordPress websites
  • A consistent setup that is exactly the same on all hosting packages

After the test website was fully set up, we made an identical copy of it and installed it on each hosting package. This way, all hosting providers have exactly the same test environment, which allowed us to make a fair comparison.

Speed test before and after optimization

To get a complete picture of the performance of the different hosting providers, we ran the speed test twice:

Without Optimization

Here we tested the test website in its standard form, without any additional adjustments or optimizations. This provides insight into how well a hosting package performs without the intervention of additional speed tools.

After optimization

Since optimization plays an important role in the loading speed of a website, we optimized the WordPress websites as best we could within the technical possibilities of each hosting provider in a second round of testing. This means that we applied different techniques to improve performance, depending on what was possible per hosting environment.

In this optimization test we worked on, among other things:

  1. Caching settings – Setting up caching to serve pages faster without unnecessary server load. For hosting providers where a LiteSpeed web server was present, we of course did this with the LiteSpeed caching plugin from WordPress.
  2. Image Optimization – Resize and convert images to more efficient formats such as WebP to reduce load times.
  3. Reduce unnecessary requests – Minimize unnecessary script and style files to load the page faster.

The test results showed that optimization resulted in a clear speed improvement for all hosting providers. This emphasizes how important it is to not only run your website on a fast hosting environment, but also to pay attention to performance optimization yourself. Fast hosting is a good basis, but without smart optimizations you will miss out on a lot of speed.

How did we conduct the test?

For a fair and objective comparison, we used the same test website for all hosting providers: a WordPress site, built with a standard theme and frequently used plug-ins, such as a contact form and Yoast SEO for extra search engine optimization. This way, we tested the performance of the hosting providers, without website differences affecting the results.

The speed tests were performed using five independent tools, which together provide a complete and reliable picture of performance:

Because speed can vary due to external factors, such as temporary server congestion, we repeated the tests on random days spread over a week. This way we did not get snapshots, but a realistic average of the actual performance of each hosting provider.
